Rennes-le-Château and Priory of Sion – English language books

Imagine The X-Files and The Twilight Zone not being fiction but actual historical fact. This is what most English language books on Rennes-le-Château and the Priory of Sion are like. They sidestep calling Pierre Plantard a charlatan and a mystificator, and do not go into the details of Bérenger Saunière’s 1910-1911 ecclesiastical trial that resulted in his (what became) permanent suspension of the priesthood.

The only serious English-language book on the subject matter that provides historical facts remains The Treasure of Rennes-le-Château: A Mystery Solved by Bill Putnam and John Edwin Wood published by Sutton Publishing Limited in 2005 (the revised paperback edition). The most up-to-date rational French book on the subject matter separating fact from fiction is L’Histoire Rêvée de Rennes-le-Château: Éclairages sur un Récit Collectif Contemporain by David Rossoni, published by Books on Demand Editions in 2011
