-Mary Magdalene pregnant In The Basilica of Saint Rémi In Reims (Marie-Madeleine enceinte dans la Basilique Saint Rémi de Reims, October 2021)

>>SNIP<<

We have already said that, in part. The Magdalene was commonly confused with the anonymous sinner mentioned by Luke, a woman whose gospels do not specify the nature of the faults but who was soon called sexual sins. In addition, the Magdalene was also frequently confused with the woman caught in adultery mentioned by John and to whom Jesus would have allowed to escape stoning (John 8:1-11). It is this double confusion that has led some artists to represent the pregnant Madeleine to display in a very visible way in her body the nature and the consequence of her supposed fault. It is these representations, quite numerous, that allowed the faithful to identify it easily, which, centuries later, are interpreted in the false light of a best-selling novel totally disconnected from historical realities. Representations that some, today, seem to be surprised to discover while they have always been visible to all and, in their time, they obviously did not surprise anyone....
