13,583 Words About The Meridian!

Someone has reposted an article by the name of William Glyn-Jones from the Graham Hancock website (8th October 2008). It’s a pained and extensively LONG article about the Meridian Line – he could have saved himself the trouble by understanding that ANY vertical line from North to South – or from South to North – on an Atlas of the Earth – can be called a Meridian Line!

He could also has saved himself a lot of trouble by reading either Paul Murdin's “Full Meridian of Glory: Perilous Adventures In The Competition To Measure The Earth” (2008), and Nathaniel B. Smith's “The Idea of the French Hexagon” (French Historical Studies, Volume 6, Number 2, pages 139-155, Autumn 1969). French occultists and esotericists have produced their own interpretations of the French Hexagon that included Paul Le Cour, Noël Corbu, Pierre Plantard & Philippe de Chérisey. This article by Nathaniel B. Smith outlines the mainstream historical origins of the French Hexagon.

It has long been an established fact that The Hexagon (L'hexagone) is the nickname of France by the French people because the country is roughly six sided – long before the rubbish by Philippe de Chérisey (or Pierre Plantard, take your pick) – long before some idiot identified it with Semitism.

I do not know what Nicolas Poussin or The Shepherds Monument has got to do with it – but as we all know, esotericists and occultists are Magicans of the Mind whereby any psychological trick can be made possible! All it requires is wishful thinking! No-one can produce any definitive historical evidence that the Les Pontils tomb was situated ON PURPOSE by the old Paris Meridian – least of all by the people who built the tomb. The claim that Nicolas Poussin was involved is just another trick of the occultist's mind devoid of any historical or reasonable evidence – as is the claim of any connection with the Shugborough Shepherds' Monument.

It's only a trick of the mind – and not logical reasoning – that can produce a 13,583 word long article about a Meridian for like-minded people, and there are plenty of them to go around!

There are whole Websites, Podcasts and Message Boards found on the Internet that are mere products of the Mind!
