* This documentary mainly represents the formulated believers' propaganda – still looking everywhere and anywhere for Bérenger Saunière's source of wealth – except in his account books (carnets). Christian Attard mentions the connection between Saunière and Prévost (Père Eugène Prévost, 1860-1946) and the trafficking in masses. The historical context for the simple reason why French priests managed to be so successful in trafficking in masses was overlooked (historians specialising in the history of the French clergy during the 19th century must be roaring with laughter about the story of Bérenger Saunière and Rennes-le-Château).

* The French believers still rely in 2018 on the magnetism of the fakes and forgeries of Pierre Plantard and Philippe de Chérisey – the parchments, the emphasis on the church of St Sulpice in Paris, Le Serpent Rouge, the devil in Saunière's church named “Asmodeus” – sometimes treating this material seriously, but sometimes discounting it. Hilariously, it was claimed that Pierre Plantard falsified the story of Rennes-le-Château and re-invented Saunière's life to convey esoteric truths representing a deeper existential and spiritual quest (Christian Doumergue) and Gérard de Sède's book L'Or de Rennes was an initiation manual (Gino Sandri). Plantard's claim to be the direct descendant of Dagobert II in order to restore the French monarchy – found throughout the Priory of Sion Documents, is overlooked by today's believers.

* Kris Darquis, who covers the subject matters of UFOs over Bugarach and the survival of the Jesus bloodline on a French website and a corresponding YouTube site, warns everybody about Rennes-le-Château being an open air asylum for lunatics (repeating Celia Brooke's observation) and that researchers need to keep a cool head. Had Abbé Gélis discovered the underground passage where Saunière’s treasure was hidden – Kris Darquis wondered! Kris Darquis seems to think the treasure of Rennes-le-Château is referred to in the novel 813 by Maurice Leblanc (adapted into a 1920 American film, since lost).

* One of Abbé Saunière’s female relatives confided to Antoine Captier circa 2000 about the existence of an underground passage where Saunière discovered his treasure (described elsewhere as being the daughter of a mother who was Saunière’s god-daughter). The female was close to Marie Dénarnaud, who passed on snippets of information about the secret to Saunière's relative to keep her happy. Saunière's relative also discovered hidden documents that were unknown even to Marie Dénarnaud (circa 1937-1939). These documents (inventory of a Bishop’s possessions), validated the existence of the hidden passage. Marie Dénarnaud burnt the documents when she found out about their existence (we've heard many similar stories before). This explanation of Saunière’s treasure, allegedly the valuable possessions of the Bishop of Alet-les-Bains 1763-1790, Charles de La Cropte de Chanterac, decided to hide his ornaments, his vast library, and collection of priceless gold coins in Rennes-le-Château before retiring in exile to Spain during the French Revolution (this account is not based upon any documented evidence, but is entirely dependant on an anonymous old lady’s memory).

* Finally, Philippe Brunel's documentary serves as another great Tourist Attraction to Rennes-le-Château – without a single critical researcher invited to participate and no information of any value to forward on to DRAC, the archaeological body of France, part of the French Ministry of Culture.

Vague stories of collapsed underground passages concealing hidden treasures attract gullible tourists, not historians.
