Rennes-le-Château – Victim of The Ordinary Thinker
18 October 2026
Indeed, the whole theme of Rennes-le-Château and its model of buried treasure, secrets, bloodlines and mysteries has become – over the last 70 years – since it was invented by Noël Corbu during the mid-1950s – a major victim and attraction of the Ordinary Thinker. It has become the symbol of people who have not grown up and are cherishing things that we have left behind when most of us developed into adults.
It has become the base of the uncritical ordinary believers who are only too willing to accept anything and everything. That is their total addiction and excitement. Anything can start it off, like the old French article about the Penitent Blues and Whites of Narbonne, that used the symbolism of Bethany that I myself drew attention to sometime during the 1990s and that Gay Roberts translated and put into the pages of “The Rennes Observer.”
If the symbolism of the Penitent Blues and Penitent Whites of Narbonne inspired Abbé Bérenger Saunière – then that would only have been one example – the sacred heart of Jesus would have served as another example, and so on. The Sacred Heart was not only the symbolism of Le Hiéron du Val d’Or – but rather only part of a Roman Catholic Brew that represented the total whole of the opposition to the very thought and concept of the atheism of the French Republic.
Rennes-le-Château merely represents only one out of many million examples of opposition to the French Republic in nineteenth century France – only one grain of sand that contains billions and billions of other grains of sand on the beach. There is hardly anything unique about the story of Abbé Bérenger Saunière and Rennes-le-Château once the added ingredient of Noël Corbu dating from the mid-1950s is removed from the mix.
This is an interesting aspect of the weakness of human psychology and its addiction to buried treasure, secrets, bloodlines and mysteries – without there having to be any shred of evidence to support any of it – it is borne by the process of wishful thinking generated in psychology and the mind – not from external independent evidence.
