Mary Magdalene & Virgin Mary Are
Talismans of Sexual Death

23 March 2025

While both the Virgin Mary and Mary Magdalene are central female figures in early Christian literature often associated with a lack of sexual activity, they are typically identified in very different ways: the Virgin Mary as perpetually virginal (asexual) and Mary Magdalene (through later tradition) as sexually repentant (formerly sexual, now dead to it).

The Virgin Mary: Early Christian literature, particularly from the 2nd century onwards (e.g., the Protoevangelium of James), emphasizes her perpetual virginity, portraying her as “sexually dead” in the sense of being entirely free from sexual desire, activity, or impurity.

Mary Magdalene: In canonical scripture, she is not identified as sexually immoral, but rather as a follower from whom seven demons were cast out. However, beginning in 591, Pope Gregory the Great conflated her with the anonymous “sinful woman” of Luke 7, leading to a long tradition of her being viewed as a “repentant prostitute” or a “sexually dead” woman who had died to her former life of sexual sin.

Early Christian Perspectives: While the Magdalene was often seen as the model for the “redeemed whore” (a woman who turned away from sexual immorality), the Virgin Mary represented the ideal of consecrated, incorruptible virginity. Both figures, however, were frequently used in ascetic early Christian literature to highlight the superiority of celibacy over sexual life.

In summary, the Virgin Mary is identified as never having been sexually active, whereas Mary Magdalene (in Western tradition) is identified as a woman who quit being sexually active, with both serving as models for a life “dead” to sexual sin.

To be “dead to sexual sin” is a theological concept rooted in Christian scripture (specifically Colossians 3:5 and Romans 6), referring to the spiritual reality that a believer in Christ is no longer under the dominion of sexual immorality, impurity, and lust. This state does not imply an absence of temptation, but rather a new identity that empowers believers to actively combat and eliminate these sinful behaviors through the power of the Holy Spirit.

These very BASIC facts, responsible for the very origin of anti-Semitism, need to be stated out-loud to people who don't know anything about them, having allowed themselves to become misguided by the so-called “Jesus Bloodline”. This is the origin of Misogyny found within Christianity.

Vandals in Austria beheaded a sculpture of the Virgin Mary giving birth to Jesus. “Crowning” by Austrian artist Esther Strauss, was beheaded on July 1, 2024, inside St Mary's Cathedral (Mariendom) in Linz, Austria.
